SUNDAY 27th May 2012.
After five days at sea in calm seas and clear weather we reached
Singapore this morning. The ship berthed at the their brand new shipping
terminal right adjacent to the city. Quite a bit better tha our tent terminal
in Sydney The day was overcast and raining when we arrived, however the rain
cleared and it turned out to be a good day
of about 29 degrees.
We spent the day visiting the Battlefields on Singapore which included
the Changi Museum, Kranji War Memorial, Fort Canning and the underground bunkers called the Battle Box
where the final decision was made for the surrender on Singapore in 1942.
It was a real eye opener to see first hand what happened to Singapore
during the Second World War. The visit
was well worth the effort and we had a good day.
Tonight we have a short overnite crossing of the Malay Strait for Port
Kelang and Kuala Lumpur.
