SATURDAY 30th JUNE 2012.
We were blessed again with calm seas overnight from Civitavecchia to
the Sea Port of Livorno, Gateway to Florence. The day again sunny with clear
skies and approx 28 degrees.
We had a full days land excursion to the Cinque Terre which is classed
as the Italian Riviera. This is a scenic and coastal visit to five villages which make up the
“Cinque Terre”. It was a one and a half hours bus journey north of Livorno, through
the Tuscanny countryside but what a magic place this is. The area is set in a
National Park and is Heritage Listed.
We spent an hour walking along the coastline between the villages of Manorola
and Riomaggiore, two beautiful little villages nestled on the hillsides at the
ocean front. The views were absolutely amazing
and after a well earned coffee and some free time in the village we then
caught a ferry to the village of Vernazza, with spectacular picturesque views
of the coastline. Another coffee and we
had further free time time to explore the village. Then back on the ferry to
the village of Monterosso where we had a couple of drinks an a leasually
Italian spaghetti lunch.
After lunch we again had free time to walk around the village and view the
very nice sights on the beautiful beach, which includes heaps of bikini babes.
The day was finished off with a
short train ride through the hills to pick up the bus ride back to the ship.
This was a great day to remember as our last day in Italy.
Tomorrow we visit Cannes and Monaco.
