VENICE ITALY

MONDAY 25th JUNE 2012.

Where has 40 Days gone, it has passed so quickly, some 14,000 Nautical miles from home.

Since leaving Athens we have sailed 2 days through the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas in virtually calm waters and sunny weather before reaching Venice on Sunday. On arrival it was a beautiful day with clear skies and a fantastic view from the top deck of the ship through the main canals of Venice to our berth. With four other cruise ships berthed at the same time, there were a lot of tourists around the main areas of Venice, particularly St Marks Square.

We were berthed overnight so we took the opportunity to do our own thing on the Sunday afternoon by taking the water shuttle into St Marks Square and walking the streets, alleyways and squares along the Grand Canal, the Campo’s and the Rialto Bridge and Bridge of Sighs. What a fabulous place Venice is, there is always something new to see, the shopping is great and it is extremely easy to get around providing you have a good map.The waterways and canals were also clean and free of rubbish.

We finished the day off with an evening sunset dinner in a little cafe beside the Grand Canal having a Pizza, a beer ,wine and Coffee, arriving back at the ship about 10pm for a good night sleep.

Venice is a magic sea port and city which you don’t mind coming back to time and time again.

Today turned out to be a very hot and hazy day so we spent the morning relaxing on the ship before an early departure at 2pm for an overnighter to Dubrovnik
