THURSDAY 21st June 2012.
Overnighted in calm seas back through the Dardanelles to the Gallipoli
coast and Anzac Cove for scenic cruising on a beautiful sunny day.
Initially a dawn memorial service for the fallen Anzac’s was held on
the ship at 6am and a wreath laying ceremony held with three quarters of
passengers on the ship in attendance.
The ship slowly cruised along the Gallipoli coast for about 3 hours
approx 1km offshore, which gave us a good appreciation of what the Anzac’s had
in front of the them during the First World War. We had a clear view of Anzac
Cove and Lone Pine and the coastline and it was a little bit sombre when you
realise how many were killed fighting for this rugged stretch of land and
beach.
Cruising along the Gallipoli coast was o good morning well spent and
worth while.
Tomorrow we have a half day visit to Athens.
